Amanda Visell is a multidisciplinary artist that identifies mostly as a painter and sculptor and has built an extensive world of characters, toys and products throughout her career. She moved from the Pacific Northwest to Los Angeles to pursue a career in visual development for animation, eventually becoming a designer and sculptor for various stop-motion animation productions. Her career took a sharp turn when she started showing her paintings publicly. Since 2005, she has worked as a full-time independent artist. She’s exhibited, lectured, and taught workshops at galleries, universities, and museums internationally, including solo exhibitions at Disneyland USA in 2007 and The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles in 2010. In 2007, she formed her own design brand, Switcheroo, with notable artist Michelle Valigura, focusing mostly on collaborative handmade sculptures.
She currently lives as a hermit on the Oregon Coast.
